Mark Lindsay
MARK LINDSAY, as lead singer, is the visual element which binds the antics
of The Raiders to their music. His gentleness and sensitivity make Mark's presence
particularly essential because he is a romantic, softening device for the others'
humor. Besides vocalizing, Mark plays, when necessary, the trumpet, saxophone,
flute and rhythm guitar. He, along with Paul Revere and their friend and producer
Terry Melcher, writes much of the group's material. To his teenage admirers,
Mark represents the ultimate in the unobtainable. He is, beyond all doubt, the
superstar of American pop music. Despite all the idolatry surrounding him, Mark
Lindsay, the person, is not a conceited man. A very searching person, Mark's fast
moving, fast-rising life is best typified by his fire-engine red Ferrari - on the go all
over Hollywood - one step ahead of his own life. He knows that it has been his
fans that made him the hero he is. He is constantly concerned about making them
happy, returning their love, and it shows in his every movement.
Mark Lindsay has
received many awards, among them the "Gee Gee Award" from 16 Magazine for
"Top Male Singer of the Year," and "Datebook Magazine's SuperStar '67" Award
for the top fan mail draw in America.
